Kym BB
Kym BB, author of Nine Lives, No Cat! grew up in Northern Ireland. She has a Master’s Degree in Strategic Human Resource Management. Her passion is poetry, and she loves writing.
As a great observer of people, places and situations her work, although fictional, often contains some realism. Kym is a published poet and as such decided to embark on her first ever novel. She lives in the beautiful Scottish Borders with her husband and dog.
Kym has been writing for a few years now and has successfully published some poetry. She is very interested in words and their meaning. Inspired by people, events, relationships and life, she decided to embark on her first-ever novel. It has been several years in the making, but she is now immensely proud to present Nine Lives, No Cat.
The story is based on the lives, loves and careers of the characters, as it follows a group of people brought together through a set of very unfortunate circumstances.
Kym is married to David, and she credits him with the drive and enthusiasm to enable her to write this novel. Without his love, support and total dedication to read, listen and advise, this novel would never have been completed.
Kym asked her readers to send a picture and give her some feedback… She has been inundated!
Kym speaks at the Kelso U3A meeting – Becoming an Author on 4th September 2025.

Kym’s book is now available at Slightly Foxed Bookshop in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Kym’s book is now available at 20 Storey Bookshop in Kelso.

Book Reviews
After the first few chapters, this book had me hooked. The chapters are nice and short and, each time I thought “I’ll just read another one before I switch off the light,” one became five and then ten.
The book centres around a disparate group of office workers who find themselves thrown aside by their organisation to join the unemployed masses. Rather than being a tale of doom and gloom, however, it is highly amusing and could even be described as a black comedy in parts.
Some mysterious words repeated down a telephone pop up throughout the book and keep you reading, and the whole story is set against a wonderful musical backdrop.
A perfect book for reading from cover to cover on a wet afternoon.

From the moment I started 9 lives, no cat, I was gripped.
I loved how the author built each individual character up. I felt by the end of the book, I personally, knew them all and felt that they were truly part of my own life. It left me wanting more and I look forward to reading this authors’ next novel.

I thought Nine Lives, No Cat! Was very clever, SURPRISINGLY and subtly nuanced – the theme of revenge and avenging angels was very well handled and the character development very good. Quite different and original – well done!

I have just finished Nine Lives, No Cat!, I really enjoyed it, how their lives entwined, how they changed as people after losing their jobs. The twists and turns in their lives and the intrigue of Arthur and his army mate, I really didn’t see that coming. I absolutely loved the end of the book!

I’ve just finished your book and really enjoyed it. I could definitely relate to the corporate world 100% as I went through changes, became at risk and became redundant. All for the better.
You are a very talented lady to be able to jump from one person to another and going into great detail. It was funny, sad, deep and raunchy in parts. Great read!

Meant to write to you last week.
LOVED your book – you’re so bloody talented!
I think it should also go onto the book club lists.
The characters were excellent.

What can I say, these nine lives were so believable. The story really made me care about them. I really couldn’t put this book down. I don’t read many books but this book I read in under a week. It was really fascinating, intriguing and quite a puzzle. It certainly held my interest and there was great attention to detail. Well done Kym BB I’m so looking forward to the next one!

Cleverly crafted story about 9 work colleagues whose lives are forever changed after being made redundant. A real page turner, cracking read.
With so many characters I did have to refer back to each of their bios occasionally.
First novel by this author so a great effort.
